From Seripedia
Welcome to Seripedia.
This website is intended to be a user editable source of information regarding screen printing and it's related technologies and methods.
Most pages that will be created here will be open to the screen printing community and industry for editing. Individuals, companies, trade organizations and members of forum groups are encouraged to create and contribute to content regarding the technology, craft, art and science of screen printing.
This is not a free advertising service. Pages that are posted about products and services that are not fact based and encyclopedic in nature will be locked for editing and/or taken down.
Example: "*Brand X* is a manufacturer of screen printing equipment" and related information would be perfectly acceptable, as would facts about company founders, personnel, company history, etc. In addition, "John Smith of Anytown, USA is a screen printing consultant and trade show speaker" would be perfectly acceptable too. Any content posted should be verifiable.
Unlike Wikipedia, it will be acceptable for individuals to post content about themselves, as long as it is factual and verifiable.
As another example: ""*Brand X* is a manufacturer of the most advanced, most reliable screen printing equipment in the industry" would be opinion and/or advertisement and would not be acceptable. In addition, self promoting content such as "John Smith of Anytown, USA is the world's foremost authority on screen printing" would not be acceptable.
Please note that like Wikipedia, the content posted here will be editable by the public. This serves a very important purpose that seems to be lacking in online screen printing communities (forums, etc) : standardization and peer review. Where as one can search for answers in an online forum to common screen printing questions, it is difficult to arrive at a consensus as to the best method or solution without compiling the answers from many different sources. With multiple sources contributing to one depository of information, the more common and agreed upon methods and solutions will become apparent.
So why not just read Wikipedia? Simple - it is too broad based and there are not many contributors that specialize in the industry of screen printing.
Please note this is a free site. No monetary contributions are required. Eventually, context advertisements may be put in place (Google Adsense, etc) to keep the site running but no money will accepted from screen printing companies or individuals.
In the near future the "help" and information pages will be filled in with general guidelines about the site.
In the early stages of this site there will be some confusion and possible chaos. Out of chaos comes order. I sincerely hope this site will become a valuable resource of collected information about the truly fascinating craft of screen printing.
Any suggestions or comments are welcome in the Discussion page for this page, or you can send an email to info@seripedia.org
